The version released to the public on home video is significantly
different than the version of SAVAGE HARVEST screened at its cast and
crew premiere. This original cast and crew premiere version did not
contain the ceremonial killing of the Cherokee elder that now begins the
movie. Instead, the movie began with the modern-day flood shots and the
radio announcer voice-over. Also, Gary's telling of the Cherokee legend
was about forty seconds longer in this original version. After the cast
and crew premiere, a completely new opening scene (the killing of the
elder) was shot and edited on to the beginning of the movie. Also,
selected lines of dialog were removed from Gary's telling of the legend
scene. The original version that was screened at the cast and crew
premiere no longer exists.
