This is one of the best shot on video features I have seen in a while.
SHATTER DEAD was the last really impressive thing I can remember.
Stanze is a young filmmaker with talent who knows what is going on.
A group of friends camp out at a relative's property that was once
inhabited by a tribe of Cherokee Indians. To make a long and excellent
plot short, a Cherokee elder got involved with an evil spirit which
turned the tribe's crops to stone overnight. The elder was killed and
thrown into a hole to imprison his soul. Demons are now trapped in
rocks and can possess whoever touches them. The only way for the demons
to escape the rocks is if a descendent of the Cherokee tribe to returns
to the land. Well, guess what? The demons are released and they cause
lots of havoc until they are finally destroyed. The really cool twist
surprise ending could lead to a sequel (which I would not mind).
The main thing that shot-on-video independent productions lack is
talent. Stanze delivers talent in spades. We get a great story, and if
it wasn't taken from an old Indian legend, Stanze has a tremendous
imagination. There is great camera work, lots of good ideas, suspense,
good effects, decent acting, and most importantly, I was far from
bored. Stanze shows lots of promise and should be someone to watch out
for. There was even some behind-the-scenes footage after the film that
was nice and interesting. Keep it up!
